Rest In Peace Dan Wheldon

So, I'm a big NASCAR fan, and I don't really keep track much on Indy.  I at least knew the names of several drivers, including Dan Wheldon, the same driver that won an exciting Indy 500 earlier in the year.  I was shocked to learn that he passed away today after being involved in a Indy car crash in Las Vegas today.  I am kind of at a loss for words....  I guess I realized how dangerous racing was, but usually when you see big wrecks like that or in NASCAR they just walk away.  If you see the video of the wreck (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYrhaLamZYA) you can hear the reporters just kind of shrugging it off.  I'm not trying to diss announcers, because they, like us, just assumed that nothing was wrong, except for destroyed cars and debris.

What happens next?  I don't know.  I guess they will once again race next week, but I'm sure this will bring into question the safety of racing at those speeds in open cars.  Will things get changed?  Hopefully yes, but I'm not completely sure what changes are needed.  Anyways, I plan on keeping Dan Wheldon, his family, and his colleagues in my thoughts and prayers this week. -0 for 365
